Outdoor Tennis Complex

UW-Superior and Yellowjacket Athletics have begun a planning phase to construct a new, state-of-the-art outdoor tennis complex to elevate the competitive success of our student-athletes and further the growth of tennis in the Twin Ports community. Featuring six high-quality courts, this facility will serve players of all ages and skill levels, promoting both competitive play and recreational enjoyment. Our vision is to create a welcoming environment where athletes can thrive, families can connect and tennis enthusiasts can gather.

Project Overview
Located on the campus of UW-Superior adjacent to the Marcovich Wellness Center and Superior Choice Credit Union Stadium, the vision for the new complex includes:
  • Six Premier Courts: The complex will feature six well-maintained outdoor tennis courts equipped with a top-quality competition surface, ensuring optimal play and safety.
  • Spectator Amenities: Enjoy matches from comfortable seating areas, with shaded areas and convenient access to restrooms and concessions in the Marcovich Wellness Center for a complete and enjoyable experience.
  • Training Programs and Recreational Opportunities: The complex provides an enhanced opportunity for clinics, lessons and community events, fostering skill development and encouraging further participation in the sport at the youth level.
  • Community Gathering Spaces: Situated next to Superior Choice Credit Union Stadium, the complex will serve as a social hub for families and tennis lovers alike, to gather and foster deeper relationships within the community.
Goals and Vision
The construction of a new tennis facility is designed to help achieve the following goals:
  • Promote Tennis for All: We hope to make tennis accessible to everyone in the community, offering programs for youth, adults and seniors, regardless of skill level.
  • Host Tournaments and Events: With new courts, we aim to accommodate local and regional tournaments, attracting players and fans while boosting community engagement and regional tourism.
  • Encourage a Healthy Lifestyle: By providing a beautiful space for outdoor activity, we hope to inspire community members to embrace active, healthy living.
Timeline and Next Steps
We are currently in the planning phase and exploring funding sources to help make our vision a reality. We invite local businesses, alumni and community members to support this exciting project. Opportunities for naming rights and community involvement are available, and your support can help bring this vision to life.
